We propose a 10% increase for each additional campus so $5,000 each. This brings the onetime purchase of the backfile total to $65,000. We’ll keep the optional frontfile at $9,037.
We do see some engagement from the University of Nebraska Medical Center likely Radiology. The attached PDF shows involvement in the past ten years. We’ll include one year complimentary access to the SPIE eBook Collection as well.
Please let me know if there are questions.
Thank you,
-Will
Hi Kiyomi,
Perfect timing. I planned on reaching out to you next week.
We are just starting to explore a one-time purchase option of the SPIE Digital Library due to increased interest from our library partners. We’d like to offer an exploratory package to the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. We certainly believe that our content is core to the ongoing research at your university.
The perpetual purchase option we'd like offer will extend to not only the backfile (1962-2017) but will also include a fixed price for 2018 and future frontfile purchases. At this point the only backfile option we are able to offer includes both the proceedings and journals. These prices below were informed by studying the perpetual product offerings of similar academic societies in our space as well as our current tiered pricing. We believe that this offer is as competitive, if not more so, than our peers.
Purchase Cost:
SPIE Backfile 1962-2017: $50,000
Total: $50,000
All future one year frontfile purchases—should you choose to update your collection—will be fixed at $9,037 per year for a five-year period post-purchase without any obligation from the university. This pricing will hold even in the event that SPIE adds additional journal titles to our digital collection. We will also waive our platform fee for 10 years (through 2028) should the university choose not to purchase frontfiles moving forward.
At present the SPIE Digital Library includes more than 467,000 research papers. The ten SPIE journals make up just 5% of the SPIE Digital Library and the Proceedings make up the remaining 95%.
• SPIE Proceedings: 435,000+ papers
• Optical Engineering: 16,700+ papers
• Journal of Biomedical Optics: 5,800+ papers
• Journal of Electronic Imaging: 2,600+ papers
• Journal of Applied Remote Sensing: 1,600+ papers
• Journal of Micro/Nanolithography, MEMS, and MOEMS: 1,400+ papers
• Journal of Nanophotonics: 921 papers
• Journal of Photonics for Energy: 353 papers
• Journal of Medical Imaging: 380 papers
• Neurophotonics: 223 papers
• Journal of Astronomical Telescopes, Instruments, and Systems: 140 papers
Each optional subsequent frontfile purchase will add 18,000 more papers. We’re happy to include one year complimentary SPIE eBook access.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this offer. I’d be happy to discuss over the phone next week.
Thank you,
-Will
