Purpose: "TLS is one of the more important venues in which prominent writers, academics and other thinkers contribute pieces of contemporary interest, [and]...for this reason alone UNL shouldn't be several years behind." -- Dr. Gil Renberg, Classics & Religious Studies, UNL "Provides a unique record of developments in literature, politics, scholarship and the arts, and brings a unique seriousness to bear on the major intellectual debates of our time." -- Ulrich's This is a thoughtful and intellectually rigorous weekly publication from The Times (London). - This weekly publication will be primarily used by UNL faculty and students, as well as by librarians seeking guidance on collection decisions. Readers tend to scan through the entire issue, selecting articles or reviews to read. Acquiring individual articles through interlibrary loan is not satisfactory, as that prevents the reader from accessing the most current issues and from picking out the half a dozen articles that most interest him or her. We need this in print, as the electronic subscription only works for individual users and cannot be done at a university with IP addresses. Gale NewsVault includes electronic access for issues five years previous and older (currently through 2012 only), which is not satisfactory for the reader who wants current information. No other libraries in the city of Lincoln provide access to the current issues of the TLS. The closest active subscription is at Doane University in Crete, Nebraska. It is not satisfactory to expect UNL users to drive weekly to Crete to read the TLS.
- UNK,This is print, which can't be routinely shared by all four campuses, given the kind of use this gets.

Notes
11/01/2017 3:28 PM : ISSN 0307-661X The UNL Libraries had a subscription to the print edition until 2012. It was never the intention of any of the librarians to cancel this subscription. What happened is that an attempt to switch it to electronic only access failed and Swets went bankrupt and the print subscription was not reinstated. This was an oversight that should be remedied by reinstating the subscription to the print edition.
